How to install the board hanger

Jeroen Luitwieler

The board hanger from STOK3D is a 3D printed device that lets you hang your kiteboard or snowboard on the wall, either horizontally or vertically. It consists of two mounts that you put on the wall. They both require two screws to mount them on the wall and need to be level. The distance between the mounts depends on how you want to hang your board.

To install the board hanger, you will need the following tools and materials:

  • A drill
  • A screwdriver
  • A level
  • A tape measure
  • A pencil
  • Four screws (included in the package)

Follow these steps to install the board hanger:

  1. Decide where you want to hang your board on the wall. Make sure there is enough space for your board and that the wall can support its weight.
  2. Decide how you want to hang your board: horizontally or vertically. This will determine the distance between the mounts.
  3. If you want to hang your board horizontally, measure the length of your board and divide it by three. This will give you the distance between the centers of the mounts. For example, if your board is 120 cm wide, the distance between the centers of the mounts should be 40 cm.
  4. If you want to hang your board vertically, measure the width between your fins of your board minus 4 cm. This will give you the distance between the centers of the mounts. For example, if the width between the fins is 30 cm, the distance between the centers of the mounts should be 26 cm.
  5. Mark the position of the first mount on the wall with a pencil. Use a level to make sure it is level.
  6. Drill two holes on the marked position, according to the size of the screws and wall plugs. Insert the wall plugs into the holes.
  7. Attach the first mount to the wall with two screws, using a screwdriver. Make sure it is firmly fixed and level.
  8. Measure the distance from the center of the first mount to where you want to place the second mount, according to step 3 or 4. Mark the position of the second mount on the wall with a pencil. Use a level to make sure it is horizontal and aligned with the first mount.
  9. Repeat steps 6 and 7 for the second mount.
  10. Hang your board on the mounts and enjoy!

Tips:

  • Before drilling any holes, make sure there are no pipes or wires behind the wall that could be damaged.
  • The included screws are suitable for most types of walls, such as drywall, plasterboard, or wood. However, if you have a different type of wall, such as brick, concrete, or metal, you may need different screws and wall plugs that are compatible with your wall material and can support your board’s weight.
  • If you are not sure what type of wall you have or what screws and wall plugs you need, ask a professional for advice or assistance.
