How to assemble and use KiteShot V2 🪁

KiteShot V2 gives your GoPro-compatible camera an overhead view from the centre strut of your kite. This guide explains how to assemble the mount, install the anti-slip strap, attach your camera and complete the essential checks before launch.

• 1 × KiteShot V2 base
• 1 × KiteShot V2 upper section with integrated locking nut
• 1 × assembly tool
• 1 × elastic anti-slip hook-and-loop strap

Not included

• Action camera
• GoPro mounting screw
• Camera tether

Use the mounting screw supplied with your camera or a compatible replacement. A separate camera tether is strongly recommended.

Before you start

• Work on a clean surface so sand and dirt cannot enter the mount or strap.
• Check all printed parts for cracks, deformation or other damage.
• Check that the strap, hook-and-loop closure, locking nut and camera screw are undamaged.
• Confirm that your camera uses a standard GoPro-compatible mounting connection.
• Do not use KiteShot if any component is damaged or does not fit correctly.

Step 1 — Assemble the KiteShot V2 body

1. Identify the V2 base, upper camera section and assembly tool.
2. Check that the integrated locking nut remains correctly seated in the upper camera section.
3. Align the base and upper section in the same orientation shown in the video below.
4. Bring the two sections together carefully. Do not force, twist or bend the printed parts.
5. Use the supplied assembly tool as demonstrated in the video to guide and fully seat the parts.
6. Remove the assembly tool and check that both sections sit fully together and move only as intended.

Step 2 — Install the anti-slip strap

1. Position the strap and assembly tool in the orientation shown in the second video.
2. Use the assembly tool to guide the strap through the slots in the V2 base.
3. Pull the strap through gradually and keep it flat. Do not leave any twists or folds.
4. Follow the video orientation so the anti-slip section will sit against the centre strut when the strap is wrapped around the kite.
5. Leave enough free strap to wrap fully around the inflated centre strut and engage the hook-and-loop closure securely.
6. Remove the assembly tool and check that the strap moves freely enough to adjust but cannot pull out of the mount.

Step 3 — Attach your camera

1. Place the GoPro-compatible camera connection between the mounting fingers on KiteShot.
2. Insert your own GoPro mounting screw through the connection and into the integrated locking nut.
3. Tighten the screw by hand until the camera is secure. Do not overtighten or damage the camera housing or printed mount.
4. Set the initial camera angle. You can make a final adjustment after KiteShot is secured to the kite.
5. Attach a suitable camera tether to the camera housing. The tether is not included but is strongly recommended.

Step 4 — Mount KiteShot on the centre strut

1. Fully inflate your kite according to the kite manufacturer’s instructions and secure it safely on the ground.
2. Make sure the centre strut is clean and dry.
3. Place KiteShot on the centre strut only. Keep it clear of valves, bridles, flying lines, the safety system and any point where it could damage or obstruct the kite.
4. Wrap the elastic strap around the inflated centre strut with the anti-slip section against the strut.
5. Pull the strap snugly and close the hook-and-loop section across its full usable area.
6. Check that KiteShot cannot slide along or rotate around the strut. The strap must be secure without visibly deforming the inflated strut.
7. Secure the camera tether to a strong, manufacturer-approved attachment point near the centre strut. Keep the tether short and route it so it cannot reach or interfere with bridles, flying lines, valves or the kite’s safety system.
8. Adjust the camera angle and retighten the camera screw.

Pre-launch checklist

• The KiteShot body is fully assembled and has no visible damage.
• The mount is fitted to the centre strut of a fully inflated kite.
• The strap lies flat, has full hook-and-loop engagement and cannot loosen.
• The mount cannot slide or rotate on the strut.
• The camera screw and integrated locking nut are secure.
• A suitable camera tether is attached and cannot interfere with the kite or its safety system.
• The camera and mount remain clear of valves, bridles, flying lines and canopy material.
• The camera has sufficient battery life and storage and is recording before launch.

If any check fails, do not launch. Remove KiteShot and correct the problem first.

Tested compatibility

KiteShot V2 has been tested with GoPro Hero Session, Hero 10 and Hero 11 cameras and with kites including the F-One Bandit, Cabrinha Switchblade and North EVO.

Other cameras, centre-strut shapes and strut diameters may require a fit check. If you are unsure, contact us before use at info@stok3d.nl.

After your session

1. Land and secure the kite completely before touching the camera or mount.
2. Remove the camera, tether and KiteShot before deflating the kite.
3. Remove sand, salt and moisture with fresh water and a soft cloth where necessary.
4. Allow every component and the strap to dry completely before storage.
5. Inspect the printed parts, strap, locking nut and camera screw before the next session.

Important safety information

• Any camera mount adds weight and a potential snag point to a kite. Use extra care during setup, launch, landing and relaunch.
• Never attach KiteShot or its tether to flying lines, bridles, valves or the kite’s safety system.
• Do not use KiteShot if it moves, loosens, cracks, deforms or interferes with normal kite operation.
• Follow all instructions and limitations supplied by the manufacturers of your kite, camera and tether.
• Conditions on the water can change quickly. If you are uncertain about the setup or conditions, do not use the mount.
